Living in Kuala Lumpur, mosquito bites are just part of life, especially if your kids love being outdoors as much as ours do. Whether it’s a quick trip to the park, a weekend hike, or just having breakfast on the terrace, you’ll want some protection. While dengue cases have seen a rise in recent years, it hasn’t stopped us from enjoying the outdoors, it just means we take smart precautions.

We’ve tried just about everything: sprays, lotions, plug-ins, even those anti-mosquito bracelets. But what’s stuck (literally) are the NATPAT mosquito repellent stickers, also known as BuzzPatch. These colourful little stickers are packed with essential oils and stick straight to clothing. No skin contact needed, no mess, no fuss.

In this post, I’ll share our honest experience using what we believe are the best mosquito repellent patches for kids and adults, plus a few of their other wellness products we’ve tested. If you’re looking for an all-natural way to keep mosquitoes away without coating your child in chemicals, keep reading. We’ve found a few gems worth sharing.

Why Mosquito Repellent Matters in Kuala Lumpur

If your kids spend time outdoors in Kuala Lumpur, whether it’s at the playground, walking home from school, or just hanging out on the balcony, they’re going to meet mosquitoes. With Malaysia’s warm and humid weather, mosquito season doesn’t really end.

While most bites are just annoying, dengue fever is a reality in this part of the world. In 2023, the Ministry of Health Malaysia reported a 185% increase in dengue cases during the first half of the year compared to 2022. That sounds serious, but we’ve never had dengue, and we know plenty of families who haven’t either.

It comes down to being prepared. Repellents are a simple, everyday layer of protection. We don’t avoid going outside, but we do take precautions. For us, mosquito repellent stickers have made that simple.

What Are Mosquito Repellent Stickers (and How Do They Work?)

Mosquito repellent stickers, sometimes called patches, are adhesive stickers infused with essential oils that help repel mosquitoes. They’re designed to stick onto your (child’s) clothing, backpack, stroller, or hat. There’s no need to apply anything directly to the skin, which is one of the reasons we prefer them, especially for Baby S.

NATPAT’s mosquito repellent stickers, known as BuzzPatch, use a blend of citronella and other plant-based essential oils to create a natural barrier against mosquitoes. They have a light citrus scent and are free from DEET and synthetic chemicals. Each sticker offers up to 8 hours of protection.

What we love most is how simple and mess-free they are. Just peel and stick before heading outside or to bed. For younger kids who dislike sprays or have sensitive skin, these are an easy alternative that doesn’t feel like a battle.

We use them for outdoor playground trips, outdoor dining, hikes, and even at night. One sticker on the back of their pyjamas is usually enough to keep them bite-free while sleeping.

These mosquito repellent stickers are also great for visits to zoos and wildlife parks around KL, where you’ll likely be outdoors for extended periods.

NATPAT Review – Are These Mosquito Repellent Stickers Worth It?

NATPAT Stickers for Kids (Yes, Please)

We first started using NATPAT mosquito repellent stickers indoors, at home. Living in a ground-floor unit with windows open during the day, we occasionally get mosquitoes inside, even with the condo’s regular fogging. I wanted a safer option than spraying the kids at bedtime. I didn’t like the idea of repellent transferring to sheets, stuffed animals, or little fingers that end up in mouths. These patches felt like a better solution.

First impressions? Really positive. The packaging they arrived in was colourful and fun, featuring the same characters printed on the stickers themselves. It didn’t feel generic. The patches are sturdy and stick well. We had used other mosquito stickers before that barely stuck to fabric — these absolutely do.

A blue bubble mailer with colorful cartoon characters, labeled "NatPat," lies on a wooden surface. Text reads "Stick on Superpowers" and "The NatPat Life!.

Now, applying a patch has become part of the bedtime routine. We place one on the back of pajamas so the kids don’t pick at it or pull it off. That placement also keeps it out of reach for our youngest, who’s in the stage of putting everything in her mouth.

Do they work? Yes. Since we started using them at night, our daughter hasn’t had a single bite while sleeping. We use just one sticker per child and it lasts through the night — the 8-hour claim seems accurate in our experience.

The only challenge? The designs are a bit too cute. Choosing a sticker has become a mini nightly negotiation because she wants to pick the “best” one.

Overall, they’ve earned a permanent spot in our bedtime routine. No mess. No sticky residue on bedding or toys. Just one less thing to worry about.

NATPAT Stickers for Adults (Surprisingly Handy!)

While we originally bought NATPAT’s BuzzPatch stickers for the kids, I’ve started using them myself whenever we go on hikes or spend time in the park. They’re lightweight, easy to carry, and most importantly, they work.

Before switching to patches, I used mosquito repellent spray. It worked, but I never liked the sticky feeling on my skin — especially in KL’s heat. The BuzzPatch stickers offer the same level of protection without any mess or discomfort.

I usually stick one on the back of my shorts, just under my shirt, or place one on the inner thigh of my pants so my legs stay protected. For higher-risk areas like forests or trails near water, I’ll just use an extra sticker and feel fully covered.

They’re especially useful when exploring Kuala Lumpur’s hiking trails or visiting one of the best parks in Kuala Lumpur, where mosquito activity tends to be higher.

They’re just as effective as sprays in my experience, but far more convenient. No skin contact, and no cleanup. It’s easy to forget you’re even wearing one.

MagicPatch (Itch Relief Stickers)

We keep a pack of MagicPatch itch relief stickers on hand at all times, and they’ve become our go-to fix when mosquito bites sneak through. As soon as we notice Little Miss R scratching, we pop a sticker on the bite. Almost immediately, she stops, which tells us it’s working.

The stickers are made using Grid-Relief Technology, which creates a micro lift in the skin. This helps drain the lymphatic fluid that builds up after a bite, reducing the itch without using any chemicals. According to NATPAT, they start working in 30 to 60 seconds — and that lines up with what we’ve seen.

Application is easy. We use one patch per bite, press it down gently, and rub it for a few seconds to help it stick better. They really do stay in place, even after swimming, showering, or a few days of wear. The design is simple, no characters like on the mosquito repellent stickers, but the variety of colors is a hit with our 5-year-old.

These patches are a simple, kid-friendly solution that actually works.

If you’re just getting started with NATPAT or want an all-in-one solution, I recommend the Anti Mosquito Magnet Bundle. It includes both the BuzzPatch mosquito repellent stickers and MagicPatch itch relief stickers, giving you a complete system to help prevent and treat bites with ease.

SunnyPatch (UV Sensor Stickers)

If you’ve ever wondered when to reapply sunscreen, SunnyPatch makes it easy. We’ve been using these UV-detecting stickers with Little Miss R whenever she heads outside to swim or play in the sun.

Here’s how it works: You stick the SunnyPatch directly on your child’s skin (we place it on the arm), apply sunscreen over it, and then watch for changes. The sticker starts clear and gradually turns purple when UV exposure increases. That’s your signal to reapply sunscreen.

In our experience, the color change is reliable and serves as a helpful reminder. When you’re juggling everything else that comes with a day outdoors, it’s easy to forget when that last layer of sunscreen went on. This takes out the guesswork.

Little Miss R loves them. Because they’re something new and interactive, she stays interested and even reminds us to check her patch. It’s a surprisingly fun way to stay on top of sun safety.

They’re water-resistant, so they stay on through swimming, and they work with any type of sunscreen. One sticker per child is enough to help you track UV exposure throughout the day. We usually pair them with a natural sunscreen for kids that works well with the sticker and doesn’t irritate the skin.

If you’re spending time outdoors with little ones, SunnyPatch UV stickers are one of the easiest ways to stay on top of sunscreen reapplication. We’ve added them to our outdoor routine, and they’ve quickly become a summer essential.

SleepyPatch (Bedtime Vapor Stickers)

We don’t use SleepyPatch every night, but it has earned a spot in our bedtime toolkit. These vapor stickers are made with a blend of essential oils, including mandarin, lavender, vetiver, and sweet marjoram, and are designed to help kids settle down at the end of the day.

On evenings when Little Miss R needs a little push to fall asleep quickly, she picks out one of the emoji-face patches herself and we stick it right on the front of her pajamas. It’s a small part of the routine, but we’ve found it helps her wind down more quickly and settle into sleep without much fuss.

What we like is that it’s 100% natural, and unlike diffusers or sprays, there’s no mess. The scent is subtle and sweet, not overpowering. According to NATPAT, the patches are safe for kids 2+ and use a nanomaterial that releases the aroma steadily throughout the night.

We don’t use it when she’s already clearly tired. But for evenings when sleep feels a bit further away, these are a calming and kid-approved addition to our routine.

If your child struggles to wind down at night or you’re looking for a natural way to ease the bedtime transition, SleepyPatch bedtime stickers are worth trying.

ZenPatch (Mood-Calming Stickers)

We first tried ZenPatch while traveling, when overstimulation made it hard for Little Miss R to settle. Since then, we’ve kept a pack on hand for high-energy days, long outings, or any time emotions are running high.

These stickers are infused with a calming blend of Mandarin, Sweet Orange, Lavender, and Atlas Cedarwood essential oils. According to NATPAT, they’re designed to help regulate emotions and settle busy minds by working through the nervous system and triggering the body’s natural relaxation response.

We’ve found they help take the edge off within about 30 minutes. It’s not a dramatic shift, but enough to ease into calm after an exciting or overwhelming situation. Like the other NATPAT products, they’re easy to use: just stick one on a shirt or dress, near the collar or chest area.

For busy days, travel, or when your child needs a gentle nudge toward calm, ZenPatch calming stickers are a helpful, natural tool to have on hand.

NATPAT stickers are now part of our kids’ packing list for travel — they take up no space and give us peace of mind wherever we go.

Frequently Asked Questions About Mosquito Repellent Stickers

Are mosquito repellent stickers safe for babies?

Most mosquito stickers are safe for babies, but always check age guidelines. NATPAT’s BuzzPatch is suitable for children aged 0+, and it contains no chemicals — only natural essential oils.

How many mosquito patches should I use per child?

One sticker per child is usually enough. We place one on the back of our child’s pajamas for nighttime protection.

How long do mosquito repellent stickers last?

BuzzPatch stickers are effective for up to 8 hours. We’ve found they work well throughout the night or during a morning hike.

Are mosquito stickers better than sprays?

Stickers are great for kids who are sensitive to sprays or who suck their fingers. They don’t leave sticky residue or transfer onto bedsheets and stuffed toys.

Can adults use mosquito repellent stickers too?

Yes! NATPAT also offers adult patches with a stronger formula. We use them for walks, hikes, and time spent near water.

Can I combine mosquito patches with other NATPAT products?

Absolutely. We often use mosquito patches alongside SleepyPatch or ZenPatch depending on the situation — they’re designed to be used together.
