We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur at KL Midtown in December 2025 and again in March 2026 with our two daughters, and it didn’t dissappoint. We originally booked it as a quick staycation, mostly because it’s a new hotel and we’d heard great things about the kids club (and the food).
But after spending a weekend here, one thing became very clear:
The kids club alone makes this hotel worth booking.

Quick Verdict: Is Hyatt Regency KL Worth It for Families?
Yes, especially for families with young kids who want an easy, relaxed staycation.
If your goal is to find a family hotel in Kuala Lumpur where kids are actually entertained, this one stands out for a few key reasons:
- The Kidz Club is genuinely impressive, not just a small playroom
- The residences tower gives you proper space, which makes a big difference with kids
- The food is amazing, even if you’re used to dining out in KL
- Everything is in one place, so you don’t need to plan much
That said, it’s not the right fit for every type of trip.
- You’ll need to rely on Grab as it’s not a walkable area (here’s how to use Grab in KL)
- It’s not located in the KLCC area, so if you come to KL for sightseeing in the city center, this may not be the best fit.
If you’re happy to take short Grab rides to explore Mont Kiara and surrounds, and want a hotel where your kids are just as excited as you are, this is a really solid option.

First Impressions and Location in Mont Kiara
Arrival Experience
From the moment we arrived, the hotel made a strong first impression.
The lobby is spacious and modern, but still feels warm and welcoming rather than overly formal. When we visited in December, everything was decorated for Christmas, which added a really cozy atmosphere straight away.
Check-in was smooth and efficient. The staff were friendly, helpful, and clearly used to handling families, which always makes a difference when you’re arriving with kids in tow.
Overall, it felt like an easy start to the stay, which is exactly what you want with young children.
Where Is KL Midtown and Is It Convenient?
The Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur is located in KL Midtown, Mont Kiara, right next to MITEC (Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre).
If you’re not familiar with the area, Mont Kiara is a popular expat neighborhood with international schools, restaurants, and residential developments. It’s a nice area, but not somewhere most people naturally end up unless they live nearby.
From our place, it’s about a 20-minute drive without traffic, which makes it an easy option for a weekend staycation.
In terms of getting around:
- You’ll mostly rely on Grab to get anywhere
- There’s currently ongoing construction nearby, so it’s not ideal for walking with a stroller
- Malls and attractions are still close, just not within walking distance
So while the location isn’t central like KLCC, it’s still very manageable as long as you’re happy to get around by car.
Rooms: Why We Recommend the Residences Tower
Two-Bedroom Residence Setup
We stayed in a two-bedroom apartment in the residences tower, and this is something I’d highly recommend if you’re visiting with kids.
The biggest difference compared to a standard hotel room is the space. You’re not all squeezed into one room, which makes a huge impact on how relaxed the stay feels.
Our suite had:
- A separate living and dining area for playtime
- Floor-to-ceiling windows with city views
- A kitchenette for snacks, milk, or simple meals
It felt much more like an apartment-style stay rather than a typical hotel room, which works really well with kids.
Who This Works Best For
If you’re traveling as a family, especially with more than one child, the residences tower is a much better choice than a standard room.
It’s particularly useful if:
- You have kids with different sleep schedules
- You’re staying more than one night
- You want extra space to relax
For us, this setup made the stay feel easy and comfortable, instead of cramped.

The Kidz Club: The Real Highlight
What Makes It Special
The Kidz Club is, without a doubt, the standout feature of this hotel.
Located on level 32 of the residences tower, it’s not just a small playroom tucked into a corner. It’s a large, dedicated space designed for kids to actually play and explore.
What we really liked is that it’s a properly run kids club with staff on-site.
- There are staff members present and engaging with the kids
- There’s a daily activity schedule, including games and arts and crafts
- The space feels structured and well thought out, not chaotic
Even though we spent our time there together as a family, it was nice knowing that everything is well organized and supervised and that there are options to have your kids play while you enjoy an hour of quiet time by the pool.
Why It’s Worth the Stay Alone
This is the part that made this the number one hotel in Kuala Lumpur with kids club.
The Kidz Club isn’t just a nice extra. It’s a core reason to book this hotel.
- Kids can play freely and stay engaged for longer
- It gives your day a natural rhythm, without needing to plan extra activities
- It makes the stay feel easy and relaxed for the whole family
For us, it meant we could actually enjoy the hotel together, without constantly thinking about how to keep the kids entertained.
Age Suitability
We visited with an 1-year-old and a 6-year-old, and both could enjoy the space in their own way.
- Our baby was fascinated by the space and movement
- Our 56year-old had plenty to explore and stay engaged
If you’re traveling with kids in different age groups, this setup works really well.
Note that the Kidz Club is designed for kids from 4-9 years old. While younger and older kids are allowed to play, younger kids must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Pool: Two Options
One thing we really liked about this hotel is that there are two different pool options, depending on how you’re staying.
Rooftop Pool (Residences Tower – Level 32)
If you’re staying in the residences, you’ll have access to the rooftop infinity pool on level 32.
This was our favorite during our first visit.
- Beautiful city views, especially in the morning or late afternoon
- A more relaxed and quiet atmosphere
- Easy to combine with time at the Kidz Club, which is on the same level
While it’s no longer open to kids, it’s still a great spot for parents to unwind for a bit, especially if the kids are happily settled at the kids’ club. Think quiet swims, a proper break, and a moment to actually sit back and enjoy the view.
Main Pool (Hotel Tower – Level 3)
There’s also a second pool located on level 3 of the hotel tower.
This one is more of a typical hotel pool setup. While it does not have a dedicated kids pool, it does have some shallow sections where little ones can play. They also provide floaties for kids to play.
Dining: One of the Best Parts of the Stay
We originally booked this stay partly because of the food, and it did not disappoint. Let me take you through the dining options at Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur at KL Midtown.
Breakfast at Midtown Brasserie
Breakfast is served at Midtown Brasserie, and the selection is extensive.
- A mix of Malaysian, Western, and Indian options
- Plenty of variety, so it doesn’t feel repetitive
- Good overall quality across the board
It’s the kind of breakfast where you end up eating more than planned.
Tip: go early. If you go too late, you’ll be so full that lunch won’t even be necessary.
ENSŌ Izakaya & Bar (Our Favorite)
This was easily our favorite dining experience at the hotel.
ENSŌ Izakaya & Bar serves Japanese food, and it’s some of the best we’ve had in Kuala Lumpur.
- High-quality dishes across the menu
- Great atmosphere, especially in the evening
- Outdoor seating, which makes a big difference with kids
We chose to sit outside, and it worked really well. It gave Little Miss R. a bit more freedom to move around without it feeling disruptive, which made the whole experience more relaxed.
If you enjoy Japanese food, this is a must-try, even if you’re not staying at the hotel.
China House
Another standout is China House, the hotel’s Chinese restaurant.
- Known for dim sum, fresh seafood, and Peking duck
- A more traditional Chinese-style setting
- Good option if you’re staying multiple nights and want variety
We really enjoyed the food here (twice), and it’s easy to see why it’s popular.
Other Dining Options
There are a few more options within the hotel:
- Breeze Pool Bar for drinks and light bites
- The Midtown Lounge in the lobby, where they serve afternoon tea
- A Regency Lounge (if you have access)
We didn’t try everything, but it’s nice to have multiple options without needing to leave the hotel.

It’s one of those places where the whole experience just feels smooth from start to finish.
What to Know Before Booking
There are a few things worth keeping in mind before you book.
- The hotel is not in a walkable area, so you’ll need to rely on Grab
- There is still some construction nearby, which makes walking with a stroller less convenient
- If you book a standard room, you’ll miss out on the extra space and rooftop pool access in the residences.
- The rooftop pool is no longer open for kids.
None of these were dealbreakers for us, but they’re good to know so you can plan accordingly.
Would We Stay Again?
Yes, absolutely.
In fact, we’re already planning to come back for the upcoming Hari Raya holiday, which says a lot.
For us, this hotel ticks all the boxes for a family stay. The combination of spacious rooms, a well-designed Kidz Club, and excellent dining makes it an easy choice when you just want a break without overthinking the logistics.
It’s not about packing your schedule or running around the city. It’s about having a place where:
