KLCC Park is Kuala Lumpur’s urban oasis with lush greenery that stands out in the landscape. The park also has refreshing water features, including dozens of water jets, a waterfall, and a water fountain. Of course, we can’t talk about the water fountains without mentioning the water fountain show. But more on that later!

The park spans over 50 acres and boasts a blend of urban and nature. Set your sights on the beautiful landscape gardens that burst with vibrancy.

You’ll also see about 74 species of 2000 (more or less) native plants, indigenous trees, and palms. This encourages local and migratory birds to drop by the park.

Lake Symphony

Lake Symphony is the most popular attraction in the park. Surrounded by lush greenery, this artificial lake catches all the attention. Its most appealing feature is the water jets that shoot water high up to 42 meters. During the day, the water jets shoot water that dances around in patterns, hypnotizing you with its performance.

Musical Fountain Show

If you think the Lake Symphony Fountain is already impressive during the day, wait till you see it at night! Every night at consecutive hours from 8 am till 10 am, the fountain comes alive to perform a musical and light fountain show. Witness the magical performance of the Lake Symphony Fountain as it plays music and forms patterns rhythmically. It also comes with laser lights that shoot explosive colors and changes to the beat of the music.

Children’s Playground

Bring the kids to join in on the fun! The children’s playground at KLCC Park is like every kid’s dream of a play paradise. There are slides, tubes, things to climb on, spring riders, and more. The best part is they can also play with other kids on the playground! All these playground activities are sure to tire out your kid and leave fun memories.

Wading Pool

The wading pool in the park is also one of the most fun attractions for children and their parents. Let your kids cool off after a long day in the playground and beat the heat. Another fantastic feature of the wading pool is the cascading waterfall, good for a quick refreshing splash of water.

TIP: Bring a towel and a set of spare clothes and don’t forget to apply sunscreen.

Picnic Area

Fancy a picnic at the park? KLCC Park offers many picnic spots, which is great, especially if you want to pick one with the best view of the Petronas Towers. Having a picnic day is one of the best family activities in the park. Prepare your lunch or meal for the picnic, and have a great time with your family. All this while sharing conversations and taking in the breathtaking views of KLCC Park.

Jogging and Walking

KLCC Park has a 1.3 km rubberized and paved jogging track if you’re in the mood for a peaceful walk or jog. The quiet surroundings and green plants set the calming atmosphere as you go for a walk or jog.

The best time to go jogging is in the early morning or at night when the sun’s rays aren’t the strongest. We regularly ran in the park and enjoy the early mornings as there’s hardly anyone around. If you’re not an early bird, evenings are great, but do keep in mind that it’s still busy as many people come to watch the musical fountain show at night.

Admire the Twin Towers

You can’t go to Kuala Lumpur without admiring the famous Petronas Twin Towers. This iconic landmark and Malaysia’s pride can be seen anywhere from the park. The twin towers are magnificent day and night and will leave you awestruck. And one of the best spots to enjoy the view is at the arch bridge near Lake Symphony. Don’t forget to take pictures to capture the moment!

TIP: The best place to capture the iconic towers is from the elevated bridge.

Other Facilities

There are a variety of facilities at KLCC Park, including public toilets and rest areas.

As mentioned, the KLCC Park is the best place to enjoy outdoor time with kids in the middle of the city. We always enjoy the main attractions, such as the paddling pool (a public children’s swimming pool with knee-high water), the various waterfalls, the two-acre children’s playground and the dancing fountain.

What’s the Best Time to Visit KLCC Park?

Early morning or the evening are the best times to visit KLCC Park. We always try to plan our visiting hours to get the best out of our time there.

Early morning

Our personal favorite is the (early) morning. It’s one of the best times to visit KLCC Park as it’s still nice and cool and not so busy. The park opens at 7 am, perfect for an early walk or jog (but as there are no gates, you can also enter the park earlier). It’s also much more peaceful during the morning and better for the skin because the sun isn’t too hot yet. It’s also less likely to rain during these hours. We did visit the playground at the park during noon, but found it to be busy and super hot. So mostly, we stick to the earlier hours. We also try to avoid the public holidays as it’s generally a lot busier on those days.

TIP: Read our article about public holidays in Kuala Lumpur here.

The evening is also a great time to enjoy the top attractions at KLCC Park. You can watch the Lake Symphony Water Fountain Show and the Petronas Twin Towers light up. Spending the night at the park gives you plenty of opportunities to take beautiful pictures. While we hardly ever go out in the evening, we did stay at the Grand Hyatt several times and were lucky enough to get a room with Twin Tower view; so we wholeheartedly recommend a night visit. It was wonderful to see the Symphony Lake water shows by night, from the comfort of our huge bathtub.

There are also plenty of things to do in the early evening in KL with family. Enjoy a night picnic, or have dinner at one of the restaurants near KLCC Park, visit Aquaria, and more.

Other Things You Need to Know About KLCC Park

Park Etiquette

A day at KLCC Park calls for a great day of relaxation, fun, and excitement. And as someone who benefits from the park’s fantastic features, we want everyone to have the same experience.

Whether you’re a local or visitor, observing proper park etiquette is a must for promoting a pleasant and respectful environment for everyone.

Here are some of the common park etiquettes to live by:

  1. Respect the environment – The flora and fauna at the park are lovely to look at, and it should stay that way. Don’t destroy plants, trees, or habitats of wildlife. Always pick up after yourself and use the trash bins available to dispose of your trash.
  2. Follow the park’s rules and regulations – All parks have rules and regulations. Read through them and consider any restrictions on certain activities, designated areas, or operating hours.
  3. Manage your noise – In short, keep it down. In respect of other people in the park, avoid doing loud activities. Don’t blast loud music or engage in disrupting activities that will disturb other people.
  4. Clean up after your pets – If you’re bringing your fur baby to the park, be mindful of their waste. Always pack a waste bag and know where to properly dispose of them.
  5. Don’t leave your kid/s alone – Children can’t be left alone in the parks. Make sure there’s always an adult to supervise them wherever they go, including the restrooms.
  6. Yield to pedestrians – Be respectful of others and give way to walkers, joggers, or individuals with strollers and wheelchairs. Stay on the walkways and avoid damaging grass fields.
  7. Leash your pets – Make sure you’re in control of your pet, and they are leashed accordingly. Maintain a safe distance from everyone, especially because not everyone is fond of pets.
  8. Clean as you go – Don’t leave anything behind in the park. Be mindful of your personal belongings and trash.
