Step Into the World of Dinosaurs

Dino Desert Kuala Lumpur at Monkeys Canopy is a family-friendly dinosaur park designed to transport visitors back to the prehistoric era. Located within the Monkeys Canopy attraction, the park combines life-sized dinosaur models with educational displays, creating an engaging experience for children and adults alike.

We visited Dino Desert on a public holiday during Ramadan and arrived at 10 AM when the park opened. With only three other families there, we had plenty of space to explore without crowds.

How to Get to Dino Desert

By Car: Located in Sungai Long, just outside Cheras, about 45 minutes from Kuala Lumpur City Centre. There’s plenty of parking space available at the entrance of Dino Desert. The last part of the drive is a scenic one, we even saw monkeys on the side of the road.
By Public Transport: We don’t recommend taking public transport as you’ll still have to take a grab or taxi from the nearest station to Monkeys Canopy.
By Grab: The most convenient option for families without a car, providing a direct and stress-free ride. If you’re not familiar with Grab, here’s our guide to the Grab App.

Opening Hours: Open daily from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM

Tickets: Dino Desert Kuala Lumpur offers affordable ticket prices for families, making it an accessible attraction for all visitors. Here’s what to expect:

Adults: RM 55
Children: RM 45
Senior Citizens: RM 45
OKU Card Holders: RM 45

Exploring the Park: What to Expect

Dino Desert is divided into several themed zones, each offering something different for families:

Look Out Peak: A scenic viewpoint where kids can spot dinosaurs from above. Note that you’ll have to climb some stairs to reach the viewpoint.

The Fossil Zone: An interactive space where children can pretend to be paleontologists and discover fossils.

As we walked through the park, Little Miss R. was fascinated by the life-sized, moving, and roaring dinosaurs, each accompanied by educational posters detailing interesting facts. The park does a great job of combining fun with learning, making it an ideal outing for young dinosaur enthusiasts.

Things to Know Before Visiting

Weather Considerations: Dino Desert can get extremely hot, especially during midday. We highly recommend bringing a hat, sunglasses, and applying sunscreen before your visit. You can check out our guide to natural sunscreen for kids to keep little ones protected.
Food Options: There is a restaurant inside the park (Dino Bites) and a food truck near the play park. However, we didn’t get to try the food as it was too early for lunch, and the food truck was still closed during our visit.
Stroller and Wheelchair Accessibility: Many paths are not stroller- or wheelchair-friendly, requiring us to carry our stroller up and down stairs. Families with younger children may find it easier to use a baby carrier instead.
Play Park Design: The playground is uncovered, making it difficult for kids to play comfortably in the heat. The slides and other play equipment were too hot for our daughter to use.

Is Dino Desert the Best Dinosaur Park in Malaysia?

In my opinion, Dino Desert Kuala Lumpur is one of the best dinosaur parks in Malaysia, offering an immersive and educational experience for families. The life-sized dinosaur models, interactive zones, and well-designed layout make it a standout attraction.

However, we also had a great experience at the Malacca Zoo, which features an entire area dedicated to dinosaurs. While that section is smaller, it was still well-done and part of the larger zoo experience.

Both parks offer something unique, but if you’re looking for a dedicated dinosaur-themed attraction, Dino Desert is a fantastic choice.
