For those of you who like to start your morning with a good, hearty breakfast, you’re in luck because today, we will share our favorite restaurants for breakfast in Kuala Lumpur. These are the local breakfast spots we’ve tried and enjoyed. We also noted our favorite breakfast items from each restaurant, so you can see which ones are worth trying.

Cotta
We recently visited Cotta in Mont Kiara and it’s quickly become one of our favorite breakfast spots in KL. Their creamy, house-made ricotta is the highlight of the menu and features in everything from open-faced sandwiches to pasta.
We especially enjoyed the Chuck Mooris (smoked Australian beef with ricotta) and the Tuscany (tomato, basil and olive tapenade). For dessert (yep, there’s always room for dessert), the ricotta tiramisu was a standout, and the ricotta ice cream were a hit with Baby S and Little Miss R.
The space is cozy and welcoming, with high chairs available, stroller access, and lots of other families dining in. It’s also pet-friendly.

If Only
If Only is the perfect breakfast spot for family and pet-friendly dates. The environment is very chill and relaxing; even,the chic interior design makes it all worth visiting (The did a complete make-over the restaurant in 2023). We visit this restaurant often and always order the Citrus Salmon Benedict, even our four year old loves it!
The citrus flavor of the salmon really elevates the dish, and pairing it with a traditional Eggs Benedict topped with red caviar, hollandaise, and nori strips makes it all come together as one excellent plate.
They also have their own slow drip coffee which tastes very nice and, instead of fresh orange juice, we like to order their cold pressed juice of they day, for a healthy breakfast option.
We recommend booking in advance though because the line can get long on some days and you’d have to wait a while to be seated (or can’t even get a place at all). Click here to reserve a table online.

VCR Ritchie
We come to VCR Ritchie quite often too, because it’s near our house. We always enjoy their buttery, flaky, delicious croissants; especially the ham & cheese croissant and the almond croissant.
They also serve monthly specials of their croissants in different flavors and fillings. Last April, their special was the Raya Matcha Croissant oozing with creamy and delicious Matcha cream on the inside. For the banana-coffee lovers, watch out for their next serve of the Banoffee Croissant, which has a delectable banana pastry cream filling and is topped off with chocolate chunks, Chantilly cream, and banana slices.
Aside from freshly-made pastries, they offer a variety of breakfast items, including their signature Big Breakfast, Omelette Caviar, Granola, and more.
Since we are visiting so often, it never occured to us to take pictures. So, we will do that the next time and add them to this page.

Kenny Hills Coffee Roasters KLCC
Another one of our favorite cafes in town is Kenny Hills Coffee Roasters KLCC. They also have bakery chains spread throughout Kuala Lumpur, but we go to the one in KLCC because it’s in the city center.
Their known for their pastries, but one of the best and our favorite is the Lafayette, a crispy, buttery croissant with spinach, salmon, and poached egg. Other special mentions are the black forest cake and peach strudel.
For drinks, their Spanish Latte does not disappoint whether you want it, hot or cold. If you’re looking for the best places to try at the Suria KLCC Mall, Kenny Hills offers a great selection to satisfy your breakfast cravings.

Feeka Coffee Roasters
Another excellent choice for breakfast bites is Feeka Coffee Roasters. They make the best Chocolate Chip Ricotta Pancakes, perfect if you’re a true chocolate lover looking for a sugar rush. It’s a good portion for a dessert, with four big stacks of pancakes and a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
Note that it can get quite busy during peak morning hours and they have limited seating, so if you don’t want the inconvenience of waiting, reserve ahead.

Bray Bakery
While their Signature Sourdough Toast is the star of the menu, the true winners of our hearts and stomachs are their sandwiches. All their sandwiches are worth a try, especially the Focaccia Grilled Cheese and Chimichurri Chicken Sandwiches. Their freshly baked croissants are also a fan-favorite, and it’s no wonder why; they’re so buttery, flaky, and crispy!
Among our favorites are the eggs benedict and the pancakes, of course.
Like most breakfast restaurants, they can get busy; the best time to visit Bray Bakery is on during off-peak hours. We tried booking a table once, but they only accept reservations for parties of six and more. So, whenever we go to Bray, we go early (befor 9:30 am).

Note, there’s is huge parking garage, but it’s a cash-only system and you’ll have to pay and validate your parking ticket the old fashioned way: cash at the counter (on the first floor).
Marmalade
Marmalade is a lovely, family cafe in Bangsar Village. It’s a cozy and homey place to have breakfast and highly recommended to visit with kids. We had their signature big breakfast with two large sausages, scrambled eggs, grilled tomatoes, and mushrooms. It was delicious and great for a filling breakfast.
If you’re dining in with kids, they have an indoor playground where kids can have fun and enjoy themselves. It has all sorts of toys and activities for children to keep them busy while you munch on good food.

Lisette’s Cafe & Bakery
Lisette’s Cafe Bakery serves Malay-Western fusion dishes and various vegan and vegetarian options. The nice, comfortable atmosphere makes it the perfect setting for casual breakfasts and lunches. At their signature venue in Bangsar,, where we dined, they even have outdoor seating and a large outdoor garden that adds charm to the cafe. For breakfast, they have many enjoyable and tasty food options.
Additionally, the Tuesday Buffet is worth trying, with a fantastic menu that includes desserts at an affordable price. Parking, on the other hand, can be a challenge because of limited space.

Kopenhagen Coffee
This charming and minimalist coffee shop is an underrated breakfast place. What we love most about Kopenhagen Coffee is that you can mix and match different breakfast dishes. You can try a little bit of everything from their Make-Your-Own-Breakfast Board, which includes a variety of dishes from pastries and sweets to meat, dairy, fruits, and greens.
We choose the three dish version and enjoyed a bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon. For our daughter we ordered the pancakes with berry compote and scrambled eggs.
You might like the nice, cozy environment if you’re looking for a chill breakfast place. They’re pet-friendly too!
