There’s a lot of variety from the retail stores, including beauty, fashion, lifestyle, sports, and supermarket, enough to meet your daily needs. We recommend the Great Eastern Mall because of its tranquil, bright, and spacious environment.

If you visit, take your kids to the Kizsports & Gym. They have an indoor playground we often visit, and they also provide educational and social enrichment. The playland is amazing and allows kids to improve their motor skills.

6. The Intermark Mall

Food lovers unite at The Intermark Mall! Another one of Kuala Lumpur’s underrated malls, but it delivers some of the best non-halal foods. It’s a good mall to visit if you’re looking for pork and variety in food. Their great selection of restaurants and cafes, from international to local, indicates they’re very much food focused.

It’s popular with most local workers because it’s near an office block and can get slightly crowded during lunchtime.

They also have good shops and a supermarket in the basement, perfect for those staying in the nearby hotels.

Over 400 local and international retail stores can be found in this five-storey building. And with anchor tenants including the biggest IKEA in Malaysia, largest Zara outlet, Village Grocer, Golden Screen Cinemas, and H&M My Town Shopping Centre has everything to satisfy your shopping and leisure needs.

They also have a great selection of food and beverages, including a newly opened TGI Fridays, where kids can eat for free.

Families with kids can take advantage of two playgrounds at the mall, found near IKEA on the ground floor. One of the playgrounds is perfect for younger children, while the other playground has more challenging obstacles suitable for older children.

The number of stores, dining options, and entertainment venues in 1 Utama can take a whole day to explore. If you need a break from the crowds inside the mall, the rooftop garden will give you a breath of fresh air. There’s a cinema, indoor skydiving area, and Camp 5 rock climbing for those looking for entertainment. There’s even a children’s indoor playground, perfect for all the youngsters!

12. Lot 10

A short walk from Jalan Bukit Bintang and another fantastic option for food enthusiasts is Lot 10 Shopping Centre! They have a fantastic food court, which is great if you and your family want to enjoy different cuisines. If you’re a fan of Japanese food, this is where you want to be! Lot 10 is home to the first Isetan store opened outside of Japan. Enjoy Japan’s beautiful culture and food by visiting Japanese-themed restaurants and stores.

13. Pavilion Bukit Jalil

Exchange TRX, which only opened its doors on November 29, 2023, adds a fresh dynamic to Kuala Lumpur’s retail landscape.

Although many of its shops were not yet operational when we visited the mall in December, this mall is already making a mark with its free outdoor playground, offering a delightful space for family fun.

The playground’s presence amidst the evolving shopping environment makes Exchange TRX a promising destination for families seeking a blend of retail therapy and outdoor enjoyment once the majority of the shops and restaurants finally open.

Another featured we like about this mall is the rooftop park: Taman Bandar TRX (TRX City Park). It’s a lovely space with lots of plants and trees where you can stroll around, or sit back and relax while enjoying a magnificient TRX Tower view.

15. Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA Sepang

Need to do last-minute shopping before you leave Kuala Lumpur or simply looking for a Kuala Lumpur Outlet Mall? Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA Sepang is located near KLIA and KLIA2 (less than 15 minutes drive from the airport) and 30-45 minutes from downtown Kuala Lumpur. 

We always pass Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA Sepang when we travel (which is quite often) and we’ve finally made the drive from KL to explore this outlet shopping mall. We were not disappointed. 

It’s a great place for travelers and locals alike, with its diverse selection of brands, ranging from affordable to high-end. You can get crazy deals and discounts for big brand outlets like Nike, Puma, Adidas, but also Kate Spade New York, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger and more.

Hungry? No problem! Mitsui Outlet Park has a food court with halal food options. They offer a variety of cuisines, including Japanese, Thai, Malaysian, Chinese, and American. There are also plenty of restaurants to try, such as ParaThai, Kenny Rogers, LèTen Chinese Muslim Restaurant, Peranakan Place, etc.

They also provide entertainment for kids; there’s a train and a playground for kids to enjoy.

Keep in mind that you can expect larger crowds on weekends – we visited on a Saturday and it was quite busy -, holidays, and when they have seasonal sales. The outlet offers free shuttle services between the outlet and the airport. If you make the drive yourself, there’s ample parking space available.

What is the Best Shopping Mall for Families in Kuala Lumpur?

Our favorite picks are Suria KLCC and Pavilion KL because of their central location. Plus, it’s near other popular landmarks and attractions like the Petronas Twin Towers and KLCC Park, which you can easily include in your visit.

Another top shopping mall is Sunway Pyramid in Subang Jaya. This retail mall is a gigantic shopping mall featuring many international brands and local brands right next to Sunway Lagoon.
