Our Review of the Aquaria KLCC

We were absolutely thrilled with our visits to Aquaria KLCC; we had already explored it three times during our first 9 months in Kuala Lumpur. It’s an incredible attraction to include in your Kuala Lumpur itinerary, whether you’re a family, a couple, or friends without kids. Aquaria KLCC offers an enjoyable experience for both young and old, allowing everyone to marvel at the different species of marine life and gain knowledge about the underwater world.

When purchasing tickets, we opted to buy them at the counter, but it’s also possible to conveniently purchase them online. Keep in mind that during peak hours, the queue can be quite long, so having pre-purchased tickets allows you to bypass the line and save time.

Upon entering the aquarium, you’ll first encounter small tanks teeming with a variety of fishes, eels, shrimps, and more. These captivating displays are just a stone’s throw away from the main highlight of Aquaria KLCC—the massive fish tank. You can choose to descend the stairs next to the tank for a closer look at the impressive fish, or if you have a stroller, taking the elevator is an option. The professional staff members at the top of the stairs will guide you in the right direction.

Before entering the world’s longest underwater tunnel, you have the opportunity to have your photos taken by a photographer. On our second visit, knowing what to expect, we captured wonderful pictures with my parents.

TIP: Pay attention to the photographer and follow their directions for the best photo results.

As you embark on your journey through the underwater tunnel, you can either walk or take the travelator, allowing you to leisurely admire the aquatic life surrounding you. We found the underwater tunnel to be the highlight of the Aquaria KLCC aquarium. It’s truly mesmerizing to witness sharks, stingrays, and other marine species gracefully swimming above you. With good timing and a little luck, you might even capture an amazing selfie with a smiling stingray.

After exiting the tunnel, you have the option to view and purchase your photos. Prints are available, and you’ll receive a Photo Card Claim that grants you access to your photos online.

Aquaria KLCC offers various feeding sessions in different exhibits, and there are additional activities designed for all ages. For instance, the “Sleep With Sharks” program allows children aged 6 to 13 to spend a night in the aquarium, observing the nocturnal behavior of marine animals while learning about the importance of ocean conservation. The “Discovery Hunt” engages young participants in a quest to find clues throughout the exhibits. Adults can also participate in activities such as swimming with five types of sharks in a tank filled with 2.5 million liters of water, while non-divers can experience the thrill of the oceanarium through “Cage Rage,” where you’ll be partially submerged in a cage, providing an up-close encounter with sea turtles and sharks.

Before leaving Aquaria KLCC, don’t forget to visit the gift shop to purchase some souvenirs as a memento of your memorable experience.
